A damaged or hazardous rope can quickly become a serious safety issue during tension stringing operations. That’s why it is essential to ensure that pulling ropes are in good working condition before every pull.
Inspection needs to focus on broken or damaged wires, abrasion, corrosion, kinks, bird-caging, crushing, flattening and other deformation - damage that is not always easy to identify through conventional visual inspection.
That’s why we recently added an AI-based rope inspection system to our toolbox. The AI has been trained for the specific rope types and damage patterns it is expected to identify and we have now built up a database covering almost 30 different types of steel wire ropes used in stringing operations. This gives us a comprehensive and very practical inspection capability.

The system is also mobile, allowing us to deploy it wherever rope inspections are needed: at our facility or directly in the field.
